Professor Dr. Azharul Islam Sheikh (Chanchal): A leading ceramic artist, researcher, and academic, he has made pioneering contributions to both education and practice. A childhood winner of the National Art Award, he later dedicated his career to ceramics at the University of Dhaka, where he now serves as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art. His innovations include the creation of Terracotta Plaque and advanced research into blending local clay with other elements, expanding the potential of Bangladesh’s clay for modern ceramics. Through his works, teaching, and participation in international exhibitions, he has shaped a generation of ceramicists and strengthened Bangladesh’s position in the global ceramic discourse.
